The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Critical Role Song

This latest animated series, the most recent animated adventure from Critical Role, revealed a new introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while teasing at several heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song composed by artist the talented musician. This piece from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will love its presence.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when co-founder the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Including singing from one actress, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was catchy and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. This track that excites you before you start an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The show's opening with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, the creators has already said that the series will have some surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on Prime Video from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or want a head start to get to know the personas of the second series, the actual play are available on Spotify and YouTube.
